Tuesday, July 30 – Is the main arrival day. Come, get settled. The hospitality room will be open for registration, and you may shop at the store. Dinner is on your own. There is a very nice restaurant in the hotel. There is a trolley, which stops regularly at the hotel and will take you to downtown Gettysburg if you want to explore on your own.
Wednesday, July 31 - Join us for an exciting tour of the Gettysburg National Battlefield. Our tour starts at the Visitors Center, where we will see the Cyclorama, a film, and the Museum. Lunch is at the Visitor Center Café (on your own). After lunch, we board our bus for a guided tour of the Battlefield. Our Welcome Dinner will be at the hotel. The hospitality room will be open.
Thursday, August 1 - We board our bus and head for Washington, D.C. We will arrive at the WWII Memorial, where you will have time to view the Memorial and other nearby sites if you choose. Upon re-boarding the bus, we will have our boxed lunches while we travel to Arlington Cemetery. We will have a two-hour visit of the National Cemetery, including a tram tour. Then, we will have a leisurely bus ride back to Gettysburg and our hotel, where you will have time to explore Gettysburg and have dinner on your own. The hospitality room will be open.
Friday, August 2 – Today, we will travel to the Army Heritage & Education Center at Carlisle Barracks. Once there, we will tour the Army Heritage Trail, which houses fourteen exhibits that include full-scale reconstructions of a French and Indian War way station, Redoubt Number 10 from the Revolutionary War siege of Yorktown, a section of the Antietam battlefield, a Civil War winter encampment, a WWI trench system, a WWII company area, a replicated Normandy Bocage scene, a Current Operations HESCO Bastion barrier checkpoint, and an interpretation of the Vietnam helicopter air assault at Ia Drang that includes a period Fire Support Base. Numerous smaller exhibits feature armor, aircraft, and artillery from different eras of U.S. Army history. Lunch (on your own) is on our way back from Carlisle. We expect to get back mid-afternoon so you will have time to visit Gettysburg. Dinner is on your own. The hospitality room will be open.
Saturday, August 3 - We start our morning with the Member Business Meeting, to which all members are invited. There will be plenty of time to visit Gettysburg for sightseeing on your own or to relax in the Hospitality Room. In the afternoon, Union soldiers will provide the 21-gun salute in the Memorial Service where we recognize and honor those WWII Rangers who have passed on. Our Banquet dinner will be at the Hotel.
